Craft Time - Week Two
Next week (sept 10-14) we are focussing on a new book for our afternoon craft time. I am super excited because it's by one of my favorite authors, Robert Munsch. It's No Clean Clothes!
Who doesn't love the pairing of Robert Munsch and Michael Martchenko??!? Munsch provides hilarious stories and Martchenko is a wonderful illustrator! My kids adore all the books from this pair, in fact Jaxon now says the title and then "by Robert Munsch, art by Michael Martchenko" Whenever we read one together!
So here is our plan for the week;
Monday - Color a shirt, I will buy a couple plain white t shirts and pull out the fabric markers and let the kids go to town!
Tuesday - Dress a bear, I have printable bears and clothes and they can make funny outfits for the bears
Wednesday - I think Ill use this day to focus on our letters/Numbers, I found great printable letter puzzles from Pinterest (LOVE TO PIN!) and Ill make some practice writing sheets too!
Thursday - Make Kiss Cookies
Friday - What's this game, again on pinterest I found a fun game where you make a crocodile out of a cascade container and put things in his mouth. The kids then pull it out and either need to match them, or categorize them, etc (the applications are really endless) but this week we will use Mr. Croc and when they pull a picture out will have to tell me what article of clothing it is.
Thats our plan! Sounds Fun doesnt it?!?!
The Kill Order
I was given the chance to do another guest post on my awesome friends awesome blog! It's for the Kill Order by James Dashner... pop on over to www.hiretoinspire.blogspot.com to check it out!

Craft Time - Week One
With the start of school, and the return to not so nice weather (which isnt here yet but Im sure its on its way), I wanted to come up with some structured activities to help turn the screens in my house off. I decided every afternoon to do a craft time. I assigned each week a story book and then I came up with crafts to go along with it... so we read the story and then do the craft. Its only week one but so far its going good.
This week our book is "If you Give a mouse a cookie" Our Activities are;
Monday - was a holiday... no set craft time
Tuesday - Make Cookies (we made snickerdoodles... my recipe is so awesome I could eat an entire batch!)
Wed - this is gymnastic days so we dont have time for craft time!
Thursday - Counting Cookies Hide and Seek (I have felt cookies that have various number of choco chips, from 1-10) I hide them around the room and the boys need to find them and put them in the right order!)
Friday - Cookie Coloring (I have cut circles out of brown construction paper and the boys will get to design their own cookie)
This week we are also focussing on the Letter A and number 1... although since we missed Monday as the holiday we will probably just do A and 1 with B and 2 next week.
Aren't you just so excited to see which book we do next week???

First Days of School
Summer has ended, and school has begun! While we are sad to see the freedom and nice weather of summer gone, my boys are very excited to start school. Jaxon started Kindergarten and Owen started Preschool. Big moments in our house!!
Jaxon loves his new big back pack. He has been at school for 3 days now and LOVES it. He thinks his teacher is so smart and has lots of friends in his class. Well, lots of my friends have kids in his class, Jaxon is a little anti social at first, but he is starting to play with more kids! YAY! He tells me every day how much fun his new school is!
Owen started Preschool this morning. He isnt potty trained (dont even get me started on that sore spot!) But since he has a severe speech delay he will get an aide to help in the preschool. We are still waiting to get that all set and going but the preschool said he could start and come in a pull up so that he could get used to the class. Owen was thrilled with school. He didnt want to come home!
And just because he is so cute... Here's a new one of Rohn. He has discovered his hands... he still has a had time controlling them, but he knows they are there and tries really hard to make them do what he wants!

Owen Turns Three
Monday was a big day for Owen! He turned 3 yrs old! I can not believe he is already three! I sometimes forget how old and smart he is because he doesnt talk. So this birthday really snuck up on me. We didnt do too much... just a few family BBQs and one with some friends too. I sure love this little man.
We started his day off by taking him to get a speech assessment, it unfortunately went better then expected... which means now we have to wait and see if he gets PUF funding and an aide to go to preschool with him. We are praying that everything works out. 3 also means we are in the throws of potty training.... it sucks. Owen is so stubborn he doesnt want to stop what he is doing... so there are many accidents. BLARGH!

The Zoo
Calgary has a pretty decent zoo... I mean it doesnt compare to the Houston Zoo, which had animals that I hadnt even heard of... but its still pretty decent. I love zoos. I have tried and tried and tried to convince my kids to enjoy the zoo too. I havent been successful at all! What kid doesnt love watching animals?!?! JAXON... he loathes the zoo.. he wants to get in and out of there as soon as possible. Any time I stop to look at something he says "Lets keep moving on!"
I thought I had Owen convinced that zoos are cool... but now not so much. I dont think he hates them... but just not his thing. My kids are way too active for the zoo I guess.
But I still drag them there every once and a while.

There favorite part of the zoo is the giant park in the center of it. Owen loves the slides
Jaxon loves to climb... owen would too but he is just a little too short.
They do love the telephones that tell you about the animals...but Im not sure if they actually listen and learn anything... or if they just like holding them up to their ears
Owen has gotten very independant the last little while... he insists on putting his sunglasses on by himself and he insists they do on up side down...
